Kia ora Kaitāia!

Woo hoo! This week Waikarere Gregory, our Plastic Free Kaitāia 2020 Maruao, and trustee Nancy Gregory went down to Whāngārei to be presented with our cheque for $1,140 from Good in the Hood.

This amount was a result of people popping their tokens in our box at the Z Energy station in Katāia.

The funds will be used to help print the logos for and promote the Kaitāia Kete, our cloth alternatives to plastic bags. These bags include both specially made bags and t-shirt bags which are being increasingly used around town as places like our op shops and library lead the way in providing alternatives.

If you’re caught being good using a Kaitāia Kete through July you could be in to win one of the weekly spot prizes! For more inspiration and details of where and when you can come along and help make Kaitāia Kete join our Facebook group Plastic Free Te Hiku.
