Clothing Rescue - Sew Along with Jules - Face Masks
Thu, 20 Aug
|EcoCentre Kaitaia
Join us on Thursday sewing up face masks with Jules on Zoom held at Anō Anō from 2-5pm
Time & Location
20 Aug 2020, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
EcoCentre Kaitaia, shop 5/42 Commerce Street, Kaitaia 0410, New Zealand
About the event
You will learn how to make a facemask from new or repurposed fabric – I’ve used cotton vintage fabric for the front and a 1000 thread count sheet for the inside but any good quality cotton would be great.
You will need cotton fabric, elastic for the ear fastenings and some wire for the fitted nose – I recommend foam coated soft wire used to tie trees/scrubs to stakes.
You will need your own sewing machine, fabric, matching thread, iron, scissors etc for the Zoom workshop.
A pattern will be emailed to you, which you will need to print out – it would also be helpful if you could cut out your fabric prior to the Zoom call.
Who can attend: Anyone who (ideally) has some sewing experience and is wanting to create a facemask from clothing destined for the landfill. Repurposing used clothing is a small step in helping to rebalance this monumental problem.
