About the event

We are now into early winter – the perfect time to prune summer-fruiting trees.

Come along to this hands-on workshop to learn how to prune

plums, peaches, apples, pears, guavas and feijoas, even grapevines!

  • Learn the distinctly different ways different fruit trees like to be pruned for the best results, so they are more productive next season.
  • Learn how to espalier trees, vines and climbing berries such as boysenberries and cultivated blackberries.
  • Also, how to restore old neglected trees and grapevines in ways that will have them perking up and coming back into production without the use of chainsaws and axes!

This is a wonderful opportunity to find out how to avoid harsh pruning techniques that damage or destroy trees, bushes and vines rather than encouraging them to produce food for you.

Bring garden gloves and secateurs & /or loppers if you have them, and wear old shoes or boots.

Lynn’s background: Lynn has been growing all kinds of food for more than 3 decades. She has been planning gardens, pruning fruit trees and installing food forests during that time, but believes strongly in growing food as simply and easily as possible. As well as many years of experience, she also has a Permaculture Design Certificate.

If you’d like this valuable opportunity to learn from Lynn’s wealth of pruning experience, please email me to register your interest and get the address of the workshop which is being held in a private garden:

This workshop is organised by Whangārei TimeBank, which is part of Tai Tokerau TimeBank.

Although it’s open to all, TimeBank members ‘pay’ with Timecredits, and we ask for koha from non-members.
