About the event

Living the Change - expo and movie night

Friday 24th July 2020

Kauri Room, Far North REAP, Puckey Ave, Kaitāia

Tai Tokerau TImebank members across the north met weekly on Zoom during lockdown to

discuss the topic of alternative economics and alternative society. The group was such a

success that it has continued on despite the lockdown being lifted.

Now people can physically meet up, they are planning a movie night and eco expo in Kaitāia

to share ideas about alternative ways of living.

Living the Change https://happenfilms.com/living-the-change is an Antipodean

feature-length documentary that explores solutions to the global crises we face today –

solutions any one of us can be part of – through the inspiring stories of people pioneering

change in their own lives and in their communities in order to live in a sustainable and

regenerative way.

Directors Jordan Osmond and Antoinette Wilson have brought together stories from their

travels, along with interviews with experts able to explain how we came to be where we are

today. From forest gardens to composting toilets, community supported agriculture to

timebanking, Living the Change offers ways we can rethink our approach to how we live.

There are many local people already living the change, so we’ve brought some of them

together to share their ideas, experience and opportunities for others to share their

knowledge with attendees. Confirmed stalls include organisations Plastic Free Kaitāia, Tai

Tokerau Timebank, EcoCentre Kaitāia, CBEC Ecosolutions, and individuals promoting

alternative energy, composting toilets, and the plant-based diet.

Entry is gold coin koha towards the room hire. Please bring a plate of food to share.
