About the event
The community garden at 12 Puckey Ave, Kaitaia is a welcoming, relaxed space where people can come together to grow fresh kai, learn hands-on gardening skills, and share knowledge along the way. It’s open to the public as a learning garden for whānau, where we grow organic food, run free workshops, and invite people to come along, get involved, and take home fresh produce.
Volunteers help with planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting, and can earn time credits through the timebank system as well as take home fresh seasonal kai. It’s a great place to meet others, connect with community, and spend time outdoors learning alongside other volunteers and local permaculture teachers Kathy and Jen, with regular sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9–11am.
Group bookings are welcome, and you can also follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mara.kaikaitaia
