A morning all about Kefir!

Huge thanks to everyone that came along and to Peter Van Vuuren and helper, Mac, who hosted the informative Kefir workshop at Ano Ano, Kaitaia on 25th October. It was a successful and enjoyable morning, connecting with each other and hearing Peter's tips and tricks for making our own Kefir at home. It was an intimate group which resulted in a new Timebank member joining, and everyone had the opportunity to ask questions and taste both types of Kefir. Peter is an expert in making it and is passionate about sharing the grains with the community. He did a fabulous job of explaining how easy it is to make our own at home, turns out that it really is that easy! Not only is it delicious, but it has so many health benefits! High in nutrients and probiotics, it is very beneficial for digestion and gut health. Water kefir is a fermented drink, similar to Kombucha but with different probiotic properties and is a fantastic refreshing drink for the summer weather! Milk kefir can be used as a yoghurt substitute and has similar health benefits.

So if you're interested in making your own but don't know where to start or how to access the Kefir grains, then keep an eye out for the next workshops, we'll let you know on here what exciting workshops are coming up. Remeber, if you have a skill to share or a workshop that you'd like to host, then please get in touch. Send me an email at caryldw.tttimebank@gamil.com
