Tai Tokerau Timebank member, Anne Fraser, ran a very successful and enjoyable visible knitting repair workshop in He Awhi Rito Envirohub, Whangārei on Sat 13th Sept.
She showed us how to needle felt colourful fleece in various shapes over holes in jumpers; how to repair bigger holes with felt patches; embroider shapes over holes; pull seams together using a simple ladder stitch; repair ‘ladders’ in wool garments and much more!
Waste minimisation tip – don’t buy expensive felt. Find a jumper in an op shop in the colour you love. Buy it. Bring it home. Put it into your washing machine on very hot. Bingo – out it comes as felt! It won’t fray when you cut out the shape you want to patch a hole in your knitwear!
Anne uses her magical sewing skills to up-cycle garments in the Whangārei Salvation Army Op Shop into uniquely beautiful items for sale. You can follow them on FB - Intercept | Facebook
Timebank members ‘paid’ Anne in time credits, others paid koha.
